Gianluca Mariani

Lattice Semiconductor S.R.L.

Gianluca Mariani is the EMEA FAE Director at Lattice Semiconductor, a role he has held since August 1, 2019. With over 25 years of experience in field applications engineering and up to 38 years in electronics and programmable logic, Gianluca's career is marked by his deep technical expertise and passion for innovation.

He began his journey in the industry working with early programmable logic devices such as GAL, PAL, and EP300, and using tools like Cupl for manual logic optimization. One of his notable early achievements was enhancing the Intel 8255 by building a bidirectional parallel port for redundant systems, today known as Functional Safety (FuSa), to fill its feature gaps.

Throughout his career, Gianluca has witnessed and contributed to the remarkable evolution of hardware and software tools, enabling solutions that were once thought impossible. Today, in the realm of super low power, low cost silicon and very small, reliable hardware, it is possible to implement an amazing level of hardware functions, including CPUs, Ethernet interfaces, video processing, IoT solutions, battery-powered sensors, edge AI, control plane processing, and security solutions embedding cryptographic functions to counter post-quantum security threats. This exciting journey shows no signs of ending.

His dedication to engaging with customers and sharing his extensive knowledge remains a driving force in his work, making him a valued leader and mentor in the field.
